Why Holding Yourself Accountable Will Make You Happier in All Areas of Your Life

Being accountable in your personal life is very important as this will allow you to set personal goals, create an action plan, conduct, and evaluate. Holding yourself accountable to not only conduct, but evaluate the outcome is most important to understand what you can do better next time in that specific situation whether it is with a child, sibling, significant other, or spouse. This is important because it will help guide you to make the appropriate changes that may be necessary in these relationships along with learning what is most important to you in these different relationships.

Holding yourself accountable in your professional life is very important with the same approach as in your personal, but can help you have a better understanding of what you are capable of, where you are holding back, and become more successful.

Happy Holidays & Merry Christmas!

Accountability Around the Holidays

Accountability around the holidays can be a challenge for many as we are all traveling, cooking not so healthy food, healthy food, and corralling kiddos. That doesn’t mean that you can’t stick to your diet or forget your workout routine. There’s nothing wrong with being a little flexible with either, but holding yourself accountable is still very important.

Some tips to remember when family cooks all of the yummy unhealthy food is everything in moderation if you indulge, when family offers you certain sweets you can politely say ”maybe next time”, and schedule your workouts even if you decrease how often you are working out. Having a plan is the key to staying accountable and on track.

What are Macros?

You’ve probably heard the term “macro” before. There are many fad diets out there and then there is the option of counting macros. There is more to counting macros than just calories. Macros are the proteins, carbs, and fats that make up your calories. The other stuff is called “micronutrients.” These are the vitamins and minerals your body needs.

1 gram of protein is 4 calories. 1 gram of carbs is 4 calories. 1 gram of fats is 9 calories. Counting macros can help you make smart food choices and be able to fit in other foods you enjoy as well. This is also a good way to get  handle on portion control. Learning your caloric goal is the first step if you want to start following a macro diet or lifestyle. Next would be to get a food scale. Counting macros are a good way to hold yourself accountable to what you consume daily.

There are several macro lifestyle website and apps out there to help you. See our list below.

Training and Proper Nutrition Fails No One

You hear and see the slogan “Just do it” so often. Is it because it belongs to Nike or just because you are replaying it in your head over and over while you’re sitting in the car outside the gym? We all procrastinate at something at one point or another in our lives. This slogan should apply to your training and nutrition routine on the days you want to procrastinate. If you just do it, results will come. If YOU show up AND put in the work, results will come. Training and proper nutrition truly fails no one.

Fit teas, tummy wraps, and miracle pills are all over social media. There is no such thing as a quick fix. Some might say surgery, but even that is not a guaranteed quick fix. It’s all very simple, you put in the work and you get the results. Yes, it takes time and patience, but training and proper nutrition fails no one.

Summer or Winter – 1 Easy Tip to Hold Yourself Accountable

Progress comes from consistency and consistency comes from holding yourself   accountable, day in and day out. That doesn’t mean 100% of the time. This means whatever percent of the time you need to in order to achieve your specific goals.

There are the bigger things you can do to stay on track like completely changing your schedule to accommodate your workouts or change out the unhealthy foods in your diet to healthy options. However, for the long term sustainability factor starting with small changes have been proven better to be more sustainable long term.

Making small changes by increasing your workouts and changing some foods in your lifestyle along with keeping a bikini or set of swim trunks readily available at home to try on daily will allow you to see the changes in fit and be a constant reminder of where you are at.

Hand in Hand: Accountability and Consistency & Your Mentality

Accountability and consistency go hand in hand when reaching your goals. Holding yourself accountable to being consistent with your food and nutrition will help you reach your goals much quicker with less setbacks. Especially when holidays come up which generally consist of taking up extra time from traveling, cooking, and lots of extra food around.

Whether it’s Thanksgiving, Christmas, or our upcoming holiday Halloween that entices us with more candy than we see on a daily basis.  Full size or snack size candy bars will always be tempting you around this holiday, but remember you also have to have balance depending on your goals. The same goes for the handfuls of candy corns you don’t think about until later if at all.

Holding yourself accountable and staying consistent can be accomplished by planning your meals, fitting in your workouts (even if they are much shorter than normal,) and being mentally strong to get through each of these tasks when the going gets tough and you want to give up. Over half the battle is mental.
